On-board Computers

Ensure driver
and passenger safety
with state-of-the-art
technology in the vehicle

Managing and transmitting vehicle information second-by-second
is an essential requirement for bus, rail, and ferry operators –
and yet having the right technology to enable this accurately
and in real time can be a challenge for many service providers.

Ensure your drivers get the information they need to complete the journey safely,
with our sophisticated routers and driver terminals,
designed with real-time precision and security in mind.
Satellite positioning provides accurate positional control and arrival predictions,
and intuitive touch-screens offer easy-to-use displays for drivers.
Countless ebblo on-board computers are in use worldwide and impress
with their easy installation, high performance, reliability, durability and easy maintenance.

Sophisticated integration of information for communication and control

Our Intelligent Data Router (IDR-i3) acts as a single communication platform for information and voice services between drivers, passengers, and control centres – reducing on-vehicle hardware and associated costs, and making it easier to integrate with third-party peripheral devices.

The device uses GNSS positioning to compare a vehicle’s planned timetable position with its actual location, automatically determining whether the service is on time, early, or late – and transmitting this to the control centre in real time. Using this information, your service controllers can take timely corrective action and provide instructions to drivers. Voice connectivity to the device helps drivers easily communicate with supervisors in case of emergency.

The IDR-i3 automates a number of operations through its integration with a wide range of vehicle peripheral devices – such as displaying information on vehicle and street information signs, enabling audio announcements, capturing surveillance footage, tracking battery charge for electric vehicles, and evaluating passenger loads. Integration with traffic light pre-emption equipment enables traffic lights to give priority to buses and trams, reducing travel times and optimising resources.

Provide drivers with an intuitive terminal for safety and control

In combination with the IDR-i3, we provide the IPT2 – a terminal device for drivers with a simple and effective user interface to enable drivers to get trip information, log their trip information, get navigational guidance, and even request a call with the control centre when needed.

The driver operates the IPT2 through a fast, intuitive touchscreen interface supported by four configurable quick‑access buttons. Key functions—like voice requests or emergency calls—can be triggered instantly, ensuring rapid, reliable communication with the control centre via the onboard radio system. Built-in navigation assistance provides real‑time guidance for both road and rail. This is especially valuable for new drivers, dispatching scenarios, and situations where a vehicle leaves its planned route—keeping operations smooth, safe, and on track.

Lightweight solutions for compact vehicles

Regardless of the vehicle or fleet size, we have on-board computers that cater to all types of public transport operations. The AVL Lite is a cost-effective, all-in-one on-board computer with standard interfaces for simplified bus installations. It can be deployed in standalone fleets or seamlessly combined with other ebblo onboard computers in mixed fleet environments, using the same software platform.
