InnoTrans 2026: Reflecting on a Week of Innovation, Insight and Industry Collaboration

Sumedha Tatke | Head of Product Marketing, ebblo International

In September 2026, the international mobility community gathered in Berlin for InnoTrans, the world’s leading trade fair for transport technology. As part of the Modaxo Neighbourhood, the ebblo team joined other industry leaders from across the Modaxo group to explore the future of public transport with one common purpose: enabling the daily movement of people.  The event was an opportunity not only to showcase technology, but also to listen, learn and engage in meaningful conversations about the challenges and opportunities shaping mobility today.

Key Themes That Dominated Our Conversations at InnoTrans

While every organisation faces its own operational challenges, three common themes emerged through our conversations with operators, authorities and industry partners throughout the week: improving operational visibility, making better use of data and creating more accessible public transport services.

Many attendees were interested in how real-time insight and performance monitoring can support faster, more informed decision-making, while others explored ways to improve operational control across increasingly complex networks. Accessibility was also a key discussion point, with growing interest in technologies that help create more inclusive and independent travel experiences.

Showcasing Solutions That Support Smarter Mobility

Throughout the week, the ebblo team demonstrated solutions that support more efficient, connected and accessible public transport networks and showcased a broad portfolio of forward-looking solutions for the mobility of tomorrow.

Next-Generation ITCS: Smarter, more connected and future-ready

Our latest Intermodal Transport Control System (ITCS) capabilities demonstrated how operators can gain greater control of their networks through scalable, cloud-first technologies that support efficient service management, rapid response to disruption and long-term operational resilience.

Turning data into better decisions

Visitors also explored our analytics and business intelligence solutions, which help transform operational and performance data into meaningful insights. Through real-time dashboards, reporting tools and predictive analytics, transport organisations can make faster and more informed decisions. The integration of artificial intelligence and machine learning enables intelligent analytics, forecasting, and recommendations.

Accessible Mobility for everyone

We also highlighted ebblo Assist, our mobility assistance solution that helps blind, visually impaired and mobility-impaired passengers navigate public transport more independently, supporting operators in creating more inclusive and accessible services.

Supporting the Future of Mobility

Discussions around autonomous operation, zero-emission fleets, connected mobility ecosystems and evolving ITxPT standards reinforced the importance of investing in technologies that are flexible enough to support tomorrow’s transport networks as they continue to evolve.

Introducing iDT-2, our new smart driver terminal

The event also provided the perfect opportunity to introduce iDT-2, our latest multi-application driver terminal. With public transport accessibility and operational efficiency high on the industry agenda throughout the event, iDT-2 attracted interest as a cost-effective, highly reliable, multi-functional solution for regional, municipal, and small-to-medium public transport operators. Powered by ebblo Fusion software, the platform is designed to help growing transport fleets modernise at their own pace, providing a practical and dependable foundation for onboard operations today while supporting future development.

Stronger Together in the Modaxo Neighbourhood

The Modaxo Neighbourhood brought together ebblo alongside Binary System, unitSTS, Voyagerr, AEP, Nexfeld and Signature Rail, showcasing the strength of a collaborative ecosystem dedicated to enabling the daily movement of people. Together, we demonstrated how specialist expertise, innovative technology and close industry collaboration can help transport providers address today’s challenges while preparing for tomorrow’s opportunities.

Industry Perspectives from the Mobility Redefined CEO Roundtable

One of the highlights of the week was the Mobility Redefined CEO Roundtable: Navigating the Trends, Challenges and Future of Mobility. Moderated by Dr Kaan Yıldızgöz, the discussion brought together senior transport leaders from across Europe, Australia and South America, including representatives from ARTESP São Paulo, ATM Barcelona, Ville de Luxembourg and Yarra Trams.

The panel explored artificial intelligence and digital transformation, sustainability and decarbonisation, workforce and skills challenges, operational resilience, and the evolving role of transport authorities and operators. The discussion reinforced just how important collaboration, innovation and knowledge sharing will be as the industry navigates future change. Listen to the podcast version here.

The Value of Face-to-Face Conversations

Throughout the week, we had the opportunity to meet with customers, partners and transport professionals from around the world. These conversations provided valuable insight into the operational challenges organisations are facing today.

Events such as InnoTrans remain an important forum for sharing experiences, exchanging ideas and building the partnerships that help move the industry forward. We would like to thank everyone who visited us and took the time to connect with our team.

Looking Ahead

As the industry continues to embrace digital transformation, accessibility initiatives and more connected mobility ecosystems, the conversations from InnoTrans 2026 have provided valuable insight into where public transport is heading next. The ebblo team leaves Berlin energised by the discussions, inspired by the innovation on display and excited about supporting authorities and operators as they continue their journey towards smarter, more efficient and more accessible transport networks.

If you were unable to meet us at InnoTrans, we’d still love to continue the conversation. Explore our upcoming events or connect with the team to learn more about how ebblo’s ITCS and mobility solutions are helping transport organisations deliver better public transport services around the world.
